History
TACT©
originated in May of 2002 as a custom database program to assist Sexual
Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE’s) in their work.
The goal was to create a computerized system to expedite
services for victims, capture important details of each exam, produce reports,
and allow statistical analysis of data.
After
months of development, the TACT©
prototype was installed in five area hospitals in
Southern California. These locations were all under the umbrella of
Forensic Nurse Specialist (FNS) who had developed contracts with the sites
to provide exams for victims. Information was entered at the remote
locations by the nurses and transferred to the FNS main office for
management, reporting, and statistics.
In
May of 2003, TACT©
was introduced to the forensic nursing community at the International SART
Conference in New Orleans.
The response was astounding!
Because
of the vast interest in the program, other conferences were scheduled.
Soon the calendar was filled with 12-14 meetings per year. Once the
conferencing began, it was clear there were many types of agencies working
with victims that could benefit from what TACT©
could
provide.
Further
enhancements and collaborations launched TACT©
into a multi-disciplinary solution for Medical, Advocacy, Law
Enforcement, and Court agencies.
The software could now be used by any
or all of these organizations. TACT©
has quickly become the industry leader for complete Sexual Assault and
Domestic Violence case management.
